The Rwandan government and the World Bank Thursday signed Rwf64 billion financing agreement toward transformation of the agriculture sector.
The support focuses on four areas to transform agriculture.
These include Policy and Organizational Reform; Enabling Agricultural Commercialization; Delivery of Improved Agricultural Value Chain Services and Efficiency in Public Expenditures to leverage Private Sector Financing.
Agriculture sector is the backbone of our economy and is of critical importance to the livelihoods of Rwanda, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Uzziel Ndagijimana said at the signing event.
The financial support is therefore critical in transforming the sector especially in the rural sector and ensure its sustainability, he added.
